Beulah Harriss Papers

Abstract

Papers of Beulah Harriss, the first woman hired as a member of the athletic faculy in 1914.  Ms. Harriss superviced the women's athletic program.  Ms. Harriss founded the Green Jackets Club in 1926 as a service and spirit organization at UNT.  She served as a faculty advisor for the Green Jackets for four decades.  She retired in 1960 and died in 1977 at age 88.

She taught at the Hobbs School and Wilsons Chapel in Ben Wheeler; Tundra, Texas; Martin’s Mill; Rocky; Athens; and Black Jack, Texas.
